I skipped spring this year, arriving in Gainesville at the tail end of allergy season. It's the same wonderful town and university I remember from a decade ago, with possibly more bike paths and Spanish moss. I feel welcomed into both the Puyana home and my degree program. While reading published papers has definitely been a worthwhile exercise - a stretching and re-training of my brain - I probably still learn best by asking questions while out in the field. My extra pair of hands wasn't much needed for Monday's field work, but I was re-acquainting myself with the Florida springs. The flooded Ichetucknee was showing off!

Before the field season really gets underway and I'm more tied to Gainesville, I've decided to spend time with Matt, Grant, and Mommy.
