end-of-summer visitors

A cool front blew in last night, dropping temperatures into the fifties. I checked the extended forecast, and it may be here to stay... at least for awhile. With fall approaching, I downloaded pictures from the rest of summer.

I can tell that I now live somewhere people want to visit. Brevard is a beautiful, friendly town. I'm learning the west side of Broad St. by running in the evenings with Matt and/or Uwharrie. Every Saturday morning, I put out laundry and make the circuit to the bakery and farmers' market. One morning, I ran into Kate there (both opted out of the waterfall run in Dupont), and I could invite her over to our place and catch up. Terry and Nicole Foxworth are also close by. Making friends in Brevard might take time, but I'm happy to be here.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
