in time for the weekend

The table on my back porch has a giant white cake on it about eight inches tall, and light flakes are still coming down. Off the road, I'm finding that I really like snow. I like taking the first footsteps across its white expanse. It covers up a lot of flaws and makes Marion look actually beautiful.

I was finishing my Critical Friends Group training in Raleigh for most of last week. It was a good - although tiring - experience: The training was useful, I ran at Umstead State Park every evening, and they put me up in a really nice hotel. I took some photos with my MacBook to remember how nice it was!

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
