In today's session, we ended by reading nine student profiles and identifying which one we were in high school. We then gathered with others of the same profile and discussed and wrote down what strategies worked with students like us. Finally, we did a gallery walk to view the other profiles.

Mine: You love learning. You can't get enough of it. You actually look up those books that your teachers mention in passing and independently figure out alternative math theorems -- just for fun. Your only beef with school is the busy work you have to do and those classes you have to take with kids who just don't seem to care about learning. I think I'm still this profile.

It helped to read what the other profiles wrote because it gave me a glimpse of the other sides. So those are the students I have! That's what motivates them!

A small group of us teachers dilly-dallied at the "guest reception" in our hotel lobby, then headed out for dinner and dessert. Brooke and I had a great many laughs, which continued until we fell asleep. We are grateful to have guys in our life that make us laugh. I hope mine has a good day and feels better soon.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
