familiar mountains

At the last minute, I drove up to NC yet again, but this time with friends and mountains on my mind, not the tiny house. Vanessa and her sons happened to be en route to the beach, so we met at a Zaxby's off I-26 for lunch. Matt and I feasted and played dominoes with Joe, who is recovering from his surgery. We also visited Adam and Suzanne and their family. Asa taught us card tricks, and Annie showed off her girl legos.

We wanted to gift Kerry and Roger something special for their help and hospitality these last nine months, so we drove up to Shining Rock to pick blueberries. I was happy to see that the mountain blueberries were back. Following the Parkway towards Asheville, we stopped again to climb up to the Fryingpan fire tower. Something old, something new.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
