metal roof installed and publicity

Day 86: Finished screwing in ridge cap, installed missing drip edge, added foam to gable and sidewall trim, nailed up soffits and shakes on the third dormer side wall.

Day 85: Picked up metal roof trim pieces from ProBuild (underestimated in original order), nailed up soffits and shakes on a second dormer side wall, started screwing in ridge cap.

Day 84: Tidied up work site, solved ridge cap dilemma and cut metal, stained more shakes, sunned cork flooring, finished siding one dormer side wall.

With only an hour's notice, WLOS came out to interview me today. Matt, Betty, Joe, and I watched the story at Roger's house in the evening.

Day 83: Finished shakes in front wall eaves,

 caulked window trim,

screwed in metal roof panels on steep sections, nailed some soffit boards.

Day 82: Replaced roofing felt, put up the metal roof panels, trim, and rafters/facia above dormers,

discussed how to install the ridge cap. Elliott worked with us until sunset -- thanks so much!

Day 81(rain, half day): Continued nailing up shakes.

Day 80 (rain): Trimmed eaves on front of house, started nailing up shakes.

Beth Beasley's article was published on the front page of Hendersonville's local paper.

Day 79: Put up facia, metal roof, and ridge cap on the rest of the steep sections in anticipation of rain.

Day 78: Put up metal roof with all the trim pieces and rafter/facia in one section.

Day 77: Tried to fix generator (no luck, sent to shop), nailed up siding on exterior storage.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
