interim project

I have five months before I move to Gainesville, so instead of working a minimum wage temp job, I've decided to expand my repertoire and build a tiny house on wheels. The vision is something slightly longer than this, but just as quaint and well-made.

In late October, Matt and I attended a workshop by Dan Louche, and the more we learned about tiny houses, the more doable this project seemed. I had the time to plan and build, we were offered a location to build it at, and we could move this house with us to Florida. I'm hoping to have the exterior finished this winter if we get enough warmer, sunny days.

The trailer is ordered and will arrive the end of November. I've toured several tiny houses in the area to get ideas and just finished adjusting Dan's framing plans for what we want. I have already asked Home Depot to price the windows and sliding glass door and should be ready to submit the first building materials order by the end of the week. I'll probably try to borrow many of the tools from Dad and from friends.

To gain experience, I've been helping/watching Roger build his tiny house treehouse. Here I'm posing with the nail gun. It's already house wrapped and ready for the metal roof.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
