NC Fund

I was the only one to show up for the film and discussion at our library, but it was worth it. Coming from today's political climate and general apathy, I'm just amazed that the NC Fund even happened: An organization set up to empower local communities and address the root causes of poverty. The first, here, in North Carolina! (Reminds me of how incredulous I was to learn that Mississippi had the most progressive - towards education - governor back in the 80s.) Watching the film, you could feel the hope and idealism. I wonder how the leaders feel now.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
