Silverton's 4th of July parade

It's a dog world out there, we notice as we navigate Uwharrie by/around/between them. Dogs and children. Children get the attention of the parade participants throwing candy and beads. I watch adults eyeing the candy that lands on the steet, but restraining themselves so that the children can pick them up. Before the gunshots scared her off, Uwharrie competed, too, by pawing the chocolate bar that she wanted.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
