running

"This is great: I've never seen our students move this much!" Mr. Kirk at Monday night's basketball game against another Early College.

His statement got me thinking since we don't have an athletics program at MEC. I had thought about running the Point Lookout Trail race on Saturday, but kind of balked at the $15 registration fee. Still I wanted to support our local trails association. So I made an offer to my students: If they would run the 5K, I would pay $10 of their registration fee, and give them a ride there. An offer you can't refuse, right?

I had two takers, and we had a blast.

Next year, I'm going to offer breakfast at McDonalds afterwards, and I'll probably have a bigger group of students. ;-)

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
