neighbor

I literally had only one foot across the threshold of the church, when Monroe came up to me with his hand out and said, "Hey, I met you at Planned Parenthood on Friday. Welcome." (I had volunteered to help PP move and get settled in their new office, kind of on the spur of the moment that day.) The next words out of his mouth were "I'm a community organizer", and you know my reaction: "Ooh, gotta pick his brains."

Monroe's the coordinator for Western North Carolina Citizens for an End to Institutional Bigotry (WNCCEIB).

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
