205 miles

Shadow would say he doesn't deal with maildrops. He'd say something like, "Either you're doing double mileage to get to the post office before it closes or you're twiddling your thumbs waiting for it to open." I did both within the last 72 hours -- yeesh.

I just picked up a letter in Salisbury, CT, and by tomorrow night, I will have crossed into Massachusetts. (Joel, I am making it to your wedding!) I'm wondering where is a good place to watch fireworks from the trail... I feel like celebrating this Fourth of July! Should have stuck with Death March (another flip-flopper and there might be more) because he's been carrying fireworks since Pennsylvania.

I'm starting to get my "trail legs" so I can do higher mileage each day and am getting faster on the uphills. Or it could also be because it has cooled down a little. :-)

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
