the big day

I hadn't spoken to Jess for two weeks, which wasn't usual, but I guess I'd been caught up in my own world, so when I did call her, and she sounded so worn, I half wished I could be down there to give her a hug and make sure she was all alright. You see, this is a role reversal: usually I'm the one that can barely keep it together. Jess is an amazing teacher, not only for what she does in the classroom, but also for her unwavering dedication to her kids -- something I cannot emulate. I just hope she takes care of herself, too, along the way.

Ecology studies the interrelationship between organisms and their environment. It originates from the German word okologie, first used in 1873.

This blog documents one organism's interactions with her environment.
What would be the hope of being personally whole in a dismembered society, or personally healthy in a landscape scalped, scraped, eroded, and poisoned, or personally free in a land entirely controlled by the government [or corporations], or personally enlightened in an age illuminated only by TV? - Wendell Berry
